Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney's rise to stardom has been swift. At only 18 years of age he was signed by Manchester United for £20m, and some have said that's a bargain price!
Rooney started his professional career at Everton where he quickly earnt himself a reputation as a sharp shooter. He made 77 appearances for the first team and scored a total of 17 goals.
However it was for England where he really came to the world's attention. He became the youngest person ever to score for England and went on to become the hero of England's Euro 2004 team. The offers came in thick and fast and eventually Everton had to let him go.
