Manchester City Football Club
Manchester City have been in existence since 1880. They first formed as Gorton Athletic, but withing 7 years they had merged with another team called West Gorton FC to become Ardwick FC. Their final incarnation as Manchester City happened in 1899.
City are one of the most consistent clubs in English footballing history. Throughout most of their existence they have played in the top flight league.
City's were most successful in the 1960's and early 1970 when Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison led their team to trophy after trophy. City legends Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee were part of the key to their success, winning the League in 1968, the FA Cup in 1969, and in 1970 Manchester City took home the Cup Winners Cup, League Cup and Charity Shield.
