Arsenal Football Club
Arsenal Football Club was founded in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal weapons manufacturing plant in Woolwich. As the players were gun manufacturers, their nickname became 'The Gunners'. The club joined the Football League 7 years later and were promoted to the top division in 1904. The club's current stadium is in Highbury, North London which has been their home since 1913.
Arsenal are one of the most successful clubs of recent years having won the English Premier League on three occasions in 1998, 2002 and 2004.
